Bletchley Park
Bit late but never the mind.
On Wednesday, the maths group, well, Me, Tish, Emma, Rich, Claud, Jess, Mark and other Person (plus Fiona and Judd) went to Bletchley Park. Which is down south. Like, over there…
It was the Secret Service base type thing in the War, where they decoded the Nazi’s messages. Which was actually very, very clever. It was quite cold and windy and rainy, but it was still good. Would’ve been nice to have had more time to wander round, but it was good.
I found this amazing room dedicated to displays about Pigeons in the War. It was amazing! I never really thought about it, I mean I know they used homing pigeons, but I never realised it was such a big thing! But it is! I got a leaflet about it! Hehe!
I also had a go on an original Enigma machine, which we found out afterwards is extremely valuable. Like, it has to be kept under lock and key, or supervised at all times. Literally, they can’t even nip out the room for 2 minutes, otherwise the insurance is like completely void. And I sat clucking away on it! Heh! I feel privileiged. So I bought a mug with Enigma on it. ‘Cos I am blatently THAT cool.
Anyway, good trip. Oddly, we sang most the way back. Well, all the way. I got dropped off by my house which was nice. Found out Emma was a hillbilly called Mary-Beth, and I’m Mary-Jane. I think Claudia might’ve been Mary-Lou, but I’m not sure…
